This is completely ridiculous. The correlation is that students that bring water into exams are more likely to achieve higher grades than those who don't. This does not mean that the water is making them brainier. What kind of student brings water into an exam to keep refreshed/alert? A diligent, hard working organised one.. One who would be more likely to achieve higher grades than his/her peers... Duh?

We looked at the gender differences between different colleges at the University of Aberdeen in Au Science Magazine - www.aumag.co.uk I think it's important for student publications to look into these kinds of issues and highlight imbalances.

What the author of this article fails to appreciate is that the vast majority of my fellow Scots want absolutely nothing to do with Scottish independence.

Contrary to much of what is reported down South and abroad, Salmond's separatists do not hold the majority view in Scotland at present. Indeed, the best case scenario for the SNP is that between 25-30% of Scots back the break up of the United Kingdom.

If there was the slightest chance of the separatists being able to shoehorn through their backward agenda for Scotland, do you really think they would be waiting until 2014 to hold their neverendum?

The fact remains that while not everyone in Scotland is happy with the current political make up of the United Kingdom, very few of us are willing to even consider tearing apart the United Kingdom and handing Scotland's future to El Presidente and his merry band of separatists.

Congrats Cambridge Student!

We had a pretty good month over at The Student Journals as well if anyone is interested. It was our highest-viewed month since launch and there was a reason. We covered two massive events through live blogs, we ran a number of hard-hitting feature articles on topics ranging from Uni Lad to the Glass Ceiling, had a fair few reviews, ran an article against the Invisible Children organisation before most other student newspapers, recorded two video podcasts discussing politics in France, launched our 'viral vids' section and published about 10-15 good-quality comment pieces, from discussing Trayvon Martin to the budget to high-speed rail.

Agreed! Its impossible for anyone to find anything
using the site just for example using the sections marked News, Comment,
Editorial, Theatre, Film, Music, Sport etc etc...

They are a total disgrace Angie.

All that and they still clear about £40k pa profit or something in advertising revenue for their student union too.

That's not true - there are weekly issues but of course only during term time. I like the online it's a good read and easy to navigate

The print edition is alright but the website is absolutely appalling. Terrible layout and impossible to find anything you want. Seems like it's only updated every few weeks too.

I'm an American journalism student at Stirling University, and I'm also shocked at how little work I have to put in at Uni in order to succeed - high school in KS was at least 8x harder than my current academic life.

Wales were always detined to win the grand slam!! after the awesome world cup they had, even an under par wales could win the 6 nations. And they surely did. No other team dererved it... with england deserved or being beated by scotland and italy. They should have finished a lot lower in the table!!

The Scott Trust Limited please - the Scott Trust was wound up in 2008 and replaced by a limited liability company with basically the same objectives but a very different constitution.
